Mission: Mission 1 - Klingons on Starboard Bow
Location: Legacy's Bridge - Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Klingon Neutral Zone
Timeline: 2261.189 2235

Time was out. The Romulan vessel was out of firing range and it was entering the Klingon Neutral Zone. Cindy knew that this was going to be her defining moment. She could either turn away from this fight and wait for Admiral Wheeler or she could go in and chase down the threat. Cindy was not made for tactical decisions. Her passion was science. She did not want to start a war, nor did she want to allow the Federation to be attacked by a ship that could go invisible. There was only one solution: to go in after the Romulan ship.

First she turned to her communications officer, Steffan Haas, "Steffan, please record and send the recording to Starfleet when I am finished."

“Yes, ma’am.” Haas replied as he began to record what the Captain was about to say.

Over the comm she called to the crew: =^= This is Captain Cynthia Lynette Jackson. A Romulan vessel which has the ability to turn invisible or cloak and has destroyed three starbases has entered the Klingon Neutral Zone. If we turn back, the Romulan will likely escape. If we continue, we are violating a treaty with the Klingons. I believe that Federation interests would be better served by not allowing this vessel to escape and to continue attacking our stations without consequence. Therefore, it is on my authority and my authority only that I am ordering us to go into the Klingon Neutral Zone to stop this vessel. I accept all responsibility for the consequences of this action. =^=

Down in sickbay, Jane turned away from her staff and patients. She took a deep breath. “Shit,” she said to herself. She turned around and looked towards the other doctors and nurses working. “Alright, everyone! You heard the Captain! We’re still hunting these Romulans and we risk the ire of the Klingons. Be ready for more casualties and remember your training!”

“Captain, is it wise to follow a Romulan ship into Klingon space? Surely, this makes it a Klingon problem?” Haas asked.

Cindy turned to Haas and replied, "In a sense, you are right, Steffan. I think we should put the Klingons on notice, as well. I do not think it would be wise for us to intrude into the space without them knowing the reason. Please send my recording to them, as well."

Steffan sighed, “Shall I paint a bullseye on the hull as well, Captain?” He said refraining from rolling his eyes, before tapping away at his console. “Recording sent, ma’am.”

"Only if you want to take a space walk," Cindy responded with a wry chuckle. "Thank you, Steffan."

“It seems more plaitable than what we’re about to do.” Haas replied, before turning back to his console.

Neza listened as the captain spoke, not even watching her sensors the whole time. They were really doing this. This wasn’t what she'd figured would happen on her first mission out. Once Cindy was done talking, she spun around and made sure everything was ready to go.

Standing next to the engineering console, Ayden listened but knew he wasn’t a fan of this. But at the same time, it was necessary right now. Once the speech was done, he slipped into the seat. “Cindy, all power levels are peeked, best we are going to get.”

"What percentage of our maximum is that?" Cindy inquired.

Ayden looked over, "86%. We're still working to boost it as we go, but can't promise we'll hit 90%."

Bec shook her head. "I don't like this," she said over her shoulder to Cindy. "I agree that it is the only option, but I don't like this. I just hope the Klingons don't open fire on us..."

Cindy bent down to Bec, "If you have a better answer, I'm open to it." Purposely being cheerful, but clearly strained Cindy whispered, "I'm going to need your help on this. Think of all the permutations." Without waiting for a response, she straightened up and sat regally in the Captain's chair. "Bec, take us in. Let's get them and get out."

"Aye, Cindy," she said, hands moving over the console. She punched in the coordinates and dialed up the power. "Away we go..." she said sarcastically, dread filling her as they moved toward the Neutral Zone and this strangely powerful Romulan ship.

Zoe kept her opinions to herself which was what training and, at least to her mind, common sense dictated. Would she have done it differently? Possibly but then she wasn't sitting in the center chair and no one had ever suggested she move up at all. So instead, she focused on the task at hand. "Weapons are online. Shields are holding at 60 percent with repairs underway ... and that ship continues on the same path."

"Shields should have more power soon, few smaller things to finish up in engineering. Give it 5 minutes probably." Ayden looked over to Zoe.

“Perhaps someone should give the Hamster some extra food.” Haas commented with a smirk.

Ayden's eyes shot over to Haas. "Hey now! We did fairly well in a short amount of time." Though he knew Haas was joking, he still wasn't a fan of the comment.

Haas might be a smart ass, Cindy decided but at least he was humorous. Looking at Neza, she asked, "Anything unusual out there besides an invisible Romulan ship?"

Glancing over her shoulder, Neza shook her head, "Nothing unusual as of yet, Cindy. General space readings, partial density not out of the norm."

"Alright, let's get that ship!"

Turning back to her sensors, Neza was as ready as she could be.

Though he still didn’t like the readings on the power levels, Ayden knew they were not going to get much better by staring at them. He had to trust the other engineers who weren’t on the bridge.
