Mission: Mission 1 - Klingons on Starboard Bow
Location: Science Labs
Timeline: 2261.189 2125

Alastair sat in a corner of the science labs, everybody else scurrying about working with each other while he sat alone. Gently rolling a piece of what used to be the hardest material the Federation knew of, he tapped his foot gently on the floor as he thought.

"Plasma energy, plasmatic energy, energy in general...what could've turned rodinium so brittle?..."

He shifted a bit.

"Plasmatic energy...dissipates over distance, distance equals vee divided by tee..."

He looked up at the ceiling, going through his considerable amount of knowledge lodged in his head.

"Time...distance. Plasmatic energy dissipates over time, and thus loses energy over distance. Determine effective range...velocity over time."

His theory started to become more coherent as he thought on it more and more, one step at a time. As his favorite character would say, one could not make bricks without clay. He finally sat up straight.

"If we can figure out degradation rate of the plasma versus rodinium composition, it could help determine how far the weapon traveled and how fast it did it. Could determine enemy vessel's operational range..."

He quickly moved to a computer terminal and feverishly started typing, sternly waving off what he considered a nameless technician that just about opened her mouth to offer her help.

"Plasmatic energy dissipation over distance, can figure out the time...rondinium degradation can aid in calculating projectile velocity once time is known. Should be able to help locating enemy ship..."

He bit his lip after finishing, satisfied with what he had hashed out.

"Alright, let's see how this works..."
