Mission 1 - Klingons on Starboard Bow

"Too many questions, not enough answers," Cindy complained frustrated. A more positive outlook quickly appeared. "I think we can all agree, though, that K-7 is the apparent next target...."
She looked across the table and said, "We're heading towards K-7," Candy said firmly. "Bec and Grayson, modify that torpedo and find me that ship. Lieutenant Harwell, find a way to defeat that weapon! Get me a weakness of any kind. Doctor, I need you to give me some sort of insight into what we're dealing with and why whomever is doing this."
Before Cindy could give another order, a junior grade lieutenant walked into the room. His hair was a very light blonde, almost white. However, down the center, his hair was dyed green to match his eyes and spiked. He wore a gold jeweled necklace and had a circular gold earring in each ear. He strutted into the room like he was walking down a runway except that his right hand hung chest high from a crooked arm, giving the impression of a human square root sign. In a musical high pitched voice, he exclaimed, "Oh, Captain! I'm so glad you're still here! I figured that I needed to be here on this historic first problem for the Legacy."
He clapped his hands and got near her, "Oh, do tell me that we have something juicy to share. I can hardly wait to report it back home to all your adoring fans."
Bec groaned and leaned back in her seat. With all that was going on, this joker had to poke his sneering little nose into the mess? She looked to Cindy as if to say 'We're not seriously going to give him any information, are we?'
"Feel free to observe, Mr. Thornton. However, we have a good deal of work to do and a decision has just been made." She looked at the group and said, "You know what to do."
Just as Cindy was about to break the meeting, Nadia came on and said, "Captain, we have a call from Starfleet... An Admiral Wheeler. He's requesting to speak with you immediately."
Cindy looked over at Bec, silently wondering if things could get worse. "Patch him through here, Ensign."
Bec raised an eyebrow at Cindy, wondering what Wheeler wanted now. It was bad enough they had his lapdog pestering them, now he was calling too. Probably just to yell at them about how it should be a man doing this investigation. Resisting the urge to roll her eyes or scowl, she forced a neutral expression on her face and turned toward the screen.
Admiral Wheeler’s image appeared on the screen. “What the hell is going out there, Jackson?” He barked in his gruff tone.
Cindy answered simply, "An unknown ship which has the ability to disappear and reappear fired a plasma weapon at K-6, which destroyed it in two shots. We are searching for the ship and believe it to be responsible for the lack of communication with K-4 and K-5. We suspect it may be heading to K-7." Let him chew on that! Tell me that I am not competent. See if he could have come to any better conclusions.
“If communication has been lost with K-4 and K-5, why aren’t you heading there to check if they’re ok?” Wheeler grumbled.
"Isn't it more prudent to head for the next station that is at risk to lend assistance if we can than to go to a station that could already be destroyed, Admiral?" Bec asked, her tone barely concealing snarkiness. She gave a half smile to Cindy, but quickly turned her attention back to the Admiral on the screen.
Looking over at Bec, Cindy's eyes lightened from what was a light brown to a dark green. There was a nod of approval before turning back to the Admiral. "Observations lend credence to the theory that K-4 and 5 were destroyed just like 6. I believe the best course of action is to anticipate this unknown enemy."
“You’re working on assumptions, Commander. Big assumptions!” Wheeler said as he lent back in his seat. “Very well check on K-7. I’ll see if I can spare a ship to investigate K-4 & K-5. Any ideas why someone is attacking these outposts?”
"We are working on theories," Cindy answered diplomatically. She looked over at Bec for a moment, hoping that she might have a theory other than Klingons.
Bec noticed the look from Cindy, but didn't have any solid theories. "This unknown enemy has technology we have never seen before. The likelihood of this being a known species is low," she said after a moment. "With the information we currently have, it is more plausible to believe K-4 and K-5 have been destroyed as K-6 has been and that K-7 will be next on the agenda. Movement indicates they are moving in that direction. Working theories are all we have at the moment. You say assumptions, but we have the evidence before us that allows us to come up with theories. As Captain Jackson has stated, we are working on these theories."
“Commander Jackson, did state as much but not very well. I like you, Commander Hudson.” Wheeler said with a gruff tone. “Keep me apprised of what’s going on out there, any new developments I want to be the first to know.”
Cindy simply answered, "Aye, sir." She then turned to Bec and wondered how she suddenly became acceptable.
