Mission:
Mission 4 - A Rose By Any Other Name
Location: Captain's Quarters
Admiral Wheeler choked down his anger. It was time to put Arev's plan into effect. So he called Legacy and found out that Captain Jackson was in her quarters for the time being. He wondered what, as normally she was a social butterfly. Nonetheless, with that information, he immediately rang the comm for her personal quarters.
The Captain answered the comm, seeing it was from Admiralty. "This is Captain Jackson," Cindy replied officially as the viewscreen in her quarters turned on.
Admiral Wheeler put on a crocodile grin and replied, "Captain Jackson, I'm certain that you know that I am Admiral Wheeler. I must say that I have been impressed with your recent exploits." Wheeler kept his jaw clenched and avoided grinding his teeth. You must remain friendly.
"Thank you, Admiral," Cindy replied neutrally, remembering Arev, no, Saren's warning.
The Admiral had to admit that Jackson was responding in a way that was proper for a Captain. Perhaps something good was coming of her, regardless of her being too young and too inexperienced to take on this ship. Perhaps just discrediting her and allowing her to get another ship at some time would be enough. "I wanted to call to congratulate you on your successes and give you your next mission."
"I appreciate the compliment, Admiral. However, I give credit to my crew. It is a very good one," she told the Admiral honestly.
"So your reports reflect," he responded neutrally. "For this mission, however, we are going to want you to head to the Exosian system. About a year back we lost contact with a scientific team and we would like you to go check on their welfare."
"Why was nobody dispatched there before now?" Cindy asked.
"Captain," Wheeler responded in a patronizing voice, "have you forgotten our recent history so quickly? This is the first moment that we have been able to spare a ship and if there is danger, the SECOND Constitution Class starship should respond, don't you think?"
Cindy noted the slight of being the second Constitution Class starship. "I apologize, Admiral. I forgot myself," she replied, biting her tongue.
Arev's advice is working. Soon, I will have her eating out of the palm of my hands before I crush her. "I will send you all the details for you to do your investigation. Wheeler out."
Cindy waited for the data and decided that she would spend the night deciphering all the angles. Regardless, she hit the comm and called out, =^= This is Captain Cindy. All hands report back to Legacy. We will be leaving in 48 hours. =^=
