Steffan collapsed onto the bed panting, trying to catching his breath. Neza fell next to him also panting. She laid her head on his chest as Steffan wrapped his arms around her. He could feel his heart beating ten to the dozen after the latest round of bedroom antics. He found himself falling deeper and deeper in love with this woman of the sciences. He really wanted to tell her how he felt but at the same time he didn’t want to spoil what they had going on. Hell, he didn’t even know what they were doing apart from just sex.
If he said something would she break things off? ’Break what off though?’ He asked himself. They weren’t in a relationship it was what it was. However Steffan wanted more but was afraid Neza didn’t. She was a lovely girl, she showed all the right signs towards him and never actually said how she felt towards him. Did it matter? Yes.
Breath finally catching up with her, Neza slowly ran her hand down along Steffan's chest. He seemed to have his mind a lightyear away. She couldn't help but watch him as he tried to sort out his thoughts. There was something about him that just kept her coming back, and she couldn't figure out what. There was this feeling whenever she saw him that made her heart skip a beat. What's going on inside your head she would ask herself over and over again.
Finally deciding to break the silence, she moved her hand up to his cheek. "Steffan? You okay?"
“Of course.” He said giving her an extra squeeze. “Why wouldn’t it be?”
"Your eyes look a lightyear away is all." She leaned up and kissed his cheek. "What is it?"
Stef sighed, “I want...” he started but found himself unable to continue.
Looking worried, Neza frowned. "Stef...what's wrong?"
He sighed again, “I want to tell you something. Something that’s important. Very important. I’m just not sure how you’ll react.” He said softly.
“Hey,” she replied just as softly, “You can tell me anything. What is it?”
“I’m not sure what this is.” Steffan began, referring to their coupling. “But I have to be honest with you, I’ve fallen head over heels for you. I’m not sure what your feelings are about this. I don’t want it to affect our friendship but I love you, Neza Glenn.”
Listening carefully, Neza felt her heart skip a beat. She wasn’t even sure what to say, but realized that her own feelings had come to match his a long time ago. Instead of responding right away, she moved up and took his lips in a passionate kiss. After some time, she pulled away and gazed into his eyes. “I love you too, Steffan Haas.”
“Does this mean...we’re...” He trailed off hoping she’d understand and finish the sentence.
“We’re whatever we want to be,” she whispered to him before running a hand through his hair. “I...I’d been trying to find the right time to tell you too...I’d been holding it in.”
“What do you want us to be?” Stef asked quietly.
Trying to think a bit, Neza laid back down on his chest. “Considering we’ve fallen in love with each other? I’d say that’s a pretty good indication that we might be past the basic ‘couple’ status.”
“So...we’re officially an item?” He said with a smile.
“I think we were a long time ago, Stef. We just hadn’t told each other our true feelings.”
Steffan frowned, “If we’re going steady now, does that mean the naughtiness around the ship needs to stop?” He asked with a smirk.
Neza laughed. “Maybe we should...we are both department heads...though...the spontaneous times are fun...”
“True.” Stef replied with a shrug of his shoulders. “Perhaps we should never say never though.”
“That,” she said as she gently kissed his cheek, “Is probably best. Never know when...we might need to relieve a little stress.”
“You know something?” Haas said with a playful grin. “I’m feeling quiet stressed now.” He said leaning in to give her a kiss.
Falling into the kiss, Neza smiled underneath it. “Then...I suggest we relieve that stress...”
“I think you’re right, Miss Glenn.” Steffan said as he climbed on top of Neza and began nibbling her neck.
