Getting to Know Crew

523 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Mission 0 - Christening of Legacy and Crew Arrival
Location: Approaching USS Legacy
Timeline: 2261.182 0630

Three more days! Just three more days! Cindy's heart raced as she showered, already having been up for thirty minutes. The excitement was just tearing her up. In three days, five hours and approximately thirty minutes, her and the Legacy crew would be off for parts unknown, to explore new worlds and new civilizations! To boldly go where no woman had gone before!

Cindy giggled with glee. OK, so maybe that was a cheesy line but she could not help it. The excitement was overwhelming. Today would be her first actual day on the ship. She would move all of her personal belongings there and she would start meeting with her officers.

Only one thing could put a slight damper on the day. Phil would not be coming with her. Commander Phil Wilson had been her tactical teacher. It was an area where she was weakest at the Academy but the usually dower and aloof Commander tutored her. With Nero having taken out most of the fleet, teachers like Phil had been being put back into the field and Cindy had put in a request to have him as her XO. It had been denied.

She could not explain the reason for the denial. Cindy supposed that it had something to do with his slight limp; but she could not be sure. Of course, now she would not have to put up with him grouching about her fraternizing with the crew. He probably also would not approve of the crew calling her Cindy rather than Captain Jackson. Thinking of Phil hearing about that plan and watching the vein in his forehead throb at his mere thought of breaking protocol in such "an asinine way," made her chuckle.

Of course, part of the other reason that she wanted Phil on her ship is that he had actual field experience. So few officers and even non-combatants had any meaningful space or hostile experience. She wondered who Starfleet thought would be better suited to her. Thinking about Phil, she had to think that it would be someone less stodgy. Again, she laughed, throwing back her long platinum blonde hair.

Well, for now, all that could be done was to move into Legacy, be the first person there and meet her crew. She could hardly wait. The biggest question for now was, where should she meet them? Her quarters? The bridge? A meeting room? She shrugged, happily shrugging those minor details off for now.

In the meantime, she put on her gold sleeveless miniskirt duty uniform and duty boots which made her look taller and at the same time, much more alluring. Approving of her look in the mirror, she strutted out to the Legacy, ignoring the looks that she knew were following her as she approached.

Borders indicating that non-personnel were to be behind "this line" barred anyone who was non-Legacy personnel from touching the ship. Cindy calmly showed her ID, again ignoring a leering look, and took a few steps on the ramp to the ship. There, she stopped once again to admire it. Yes, this was her ship. And, it was beautiful!
