Revolt Against Engineering

3,103 words; about a 16 minute read

Mission: Mission 2 - Love ORION Mistaken
Location: Engineering

Kevin heard Cindy's alert go out, =^= All officers except for Mr. Osswell and Commander Hudson are to immediately avoid contact with any Orions and those two are instructed to immediately arrest Vivyra and anyone else not supposed to be on board and put them in the brig.=^=

Just after hearing it, ten men entered engineering and started shouting, "Mr. Chambers, you're relieved of duty. Come out quietly and nobody gets hurt."

Behind them, a tall green woman, with an alluring voice that dripped sexuality called out, "That's right, Mr. Chambers, I would rather you not get hurt. Why don't we have a pleasant little chat and see how we can resolve our differences so pleasantly."

Kevin's head stuck out of a Jeffrey's Tube above the group and his eyes narrowed. Who the hell was this woman and what the hell were these men doing? Going against his Legacy? Putting his loyalties to the test for His Ship???

"What differences might those be?" he asked, voice piping through the intercom around them. He'd never met this woman before, but she clearly had something going on with the men who were with her. Some were even from Engineering...

He'd had to think on his feet before, but never had something so important to him been on the line before. He sat in the tubes above their heads to ponder what he might actually be able to do... like seal off... do something... to protect His Ship.

"Maybe we have no differences," she replied to Chambers in a voice that was dripping with passion and desire as she sauntered ever closer to the Engineer. Undoubtedly, Kevin could feel his desire quickening as she approached. She crooked a finger and made a come hither motion with it. "Come on over here where we could have a quiet moment together."

Quiet. Together. A scent assaulted his nostrils as he perched above the group, wondering if the odd conversation that he and Luke had had in the Mess might have been the fault of this Orion. It was quite probable... pheromones could be heady and confusing stuff. His eyelids fluttered for a moment and he almost lost his grip...

A stinging slap landed on his cheek, more surprising since he was completely alone. Was it his own mind playing tricks on him? Was it something all the more confusing within the confines of the ship? Or this Orion with her sexual confidence...

He blinked in surprise as another assault landed on his other cheek. If he had been a religious man, he might have imagined he turned the other cheek, but instead, it cleared his mind a little.

What the hell was going on?

Well, whatever it was, he'd definitely be heading to Sick Bay... if there still was a Sick Bay after this little coup...or attempted coup. Whatever it was, they were deep in Orion territory. There had to be something he could... what was that delicious scent?

"Now now, my pet," the Orion cooed. "All I need from you right now is to allow some of those shields to go down. Can you do that for me, my love?"

Kevin spun on his heel as though he were not in charge of himself and started to move towards the control panel. He nodded, a look on his face that probably looked ridiculous, but he didn't really notice. As his hand smashed down onto the console, somehow an unseen force pushed it slightly to direct it towards the comm instead of the shields.

The pain of flesh hitting hard against metal was enough to jolt him out of his lack of focus to say, "Ow," quite loudly albeit unprofessionally. However unfortunate the syllable, the fortunate part was his voice booming around the ship at large. "What the hell are you doing in Engineering?"

The cooing voice continued, "I am here for you. Why else would I be here?" she asked as if it was obvious.

"With that many of my men?" Kevin asked. "Perhaps to try to take over Engineering?" He shook his head, once, twice. And a third time which apparently wasn't his doing. What the hell really WAS going on down here? Between this attempted coup and the weird things happening down below... but that was pushed to the back burner.

"How many do you have there, Orion? Ten?"

"I lose count," the female Orion replied with an apologetic shrug. She started approaching Kevin, hoping that her pheromones would start to take a greater hold over him. "Besides, sweetie, I do have a name. It is Shalla. And what should I call you, sweetie? Hmm?"

“Hi, Shalla. I’m Bob. General Engineering flunky,” which was Kevin’s equivalent of name, rank and serial number. The closer she got, the more his head swam, and if the others reactions were any indication, he’d be seriously screwed in a matter of moments. He quickly punched in a lockdown code for his console so no matter what happened to him, they couldn’t unlock it...

He grabbed it to steady himself, and spoke through gritted teeth, “Just. Call me. B-b-bob...”

"Oh, Bob..." the Orion replied laughing. "Do you really believe that I am that stupid?" She approached Kevin with the lazy assurance that her prey was trapped and under her control. "Now, come, come, Mr. Chambers. We could do this the easy way or the hard way." She came even closer to him and offered him a hand. "For my part, I would prefer the easy way. Wouldn't you?"

Kevin could smell the pheromones leaking from her. Would help arrive soon or would Kevin have to do something? Could he?

Meanwhile, on the bridge, Cindy was waiting for news. Any news, hopefully good news. It was then that she heard Kevin's voice in Engineering and his obvious plight.

She called across the comm to Security and asked, =^= Bec, are you in there? What about Jane? =^=

Jane found a wall-mounted comm panel on Deck 5. She heard her name over the comm system as she arrived there. “Bridge. More Orions on board. We just took out a party of two on Deck 5. Inoculation is working but they still might be hard to resist.”

Cindy called back, =^=Is there any way to get more people inoculated more quickly?=^=

Bec slapped the panel on the security desk as she passed it. "I'm here, just got our friend into a comfy cell," she said in response.

=^= I need you in Engineering, Bec. Orions seem to be pressing Mr. Chambers. We can't have that. Collect Jane and get there immediately. Neza is working on something up here to help.=^=

“I’m on Deck 5, Bec,” Jane said. “Meet me in turbolift 3. I’ll pick you up.” She ran to turbo shaft three and called the lift.

With a sigh, Bec gave acknowledgement to Cindy and Jane. She grumbled something under her breath, then yelled at the nearest inoculated officer to stand guard and called two to come with her. They hit the armory lockers, each picking up a phaser rifle as well as a hand phaser. Then they made their way to lift 3 and Bec literally punched the button. When the doors opened, she stepped in beside Jane and motioned for the others to get in as well. "Fancy meeting you here," she said sarcastically as the doors closed and the lift sped off again for the Engineering deck.

"Bec, I..." Jane started to speak again as the lift traveled quickly, but thought better of it. When the crisis is over. "How many do you think are in engineering?"

"Save the emotions for after this is dealt with," Bec said darkly. "I'm not sure, normal crew numbers are roughly twenty, but many would have left. So, I would plan for at least fifteen, and one Orion," she held a hand phaser up. "You have one? If you do, set it to heavy stun. We don't want to kill our own. That goes for you two as well," she bopped both of her security people on the shoulder as she spoke. They both nodded and set their phaser rifles for heavy stun. "If you don't, you can take this one," she waited for Jane to either say she had a phaser or take the proffered one.

Jane took the phaser that Bec offered, but couldn't conceal the pain from her eyes. "Ensign Saunders and I killed two intruders on Deck 5. We know of the one Orion in engineering but there might be more. The inoculation...it works but don't let them get too close. I...I got a stronger dose of pheromone than average, so despite inoculation could feel their pull." She checked the phaser's setting. Heavy stun, as Bec ordered.

"These ones seem to be stronger than Vivyra," Bec commented offhandedly. "Keep your distance," she said to the two security officers with them. As the lift reached their desired deck and section, Bec steeled herself. "I'll go in first, you two behind me, Jane behind them," she instructed. "You, make sure to keep the Doctor safe, at all times. She gets even slightly injured..." she let the words drift off, but the dark look on her face made sure the security officer knew what would happen if he let Jane get hurt. He gulped and nodded, then waited for Bec to step out of the lift first. He let the other security officer go slightly before him, before giving Jane a half smile and stepping out, waving for her to follow.

Jane smiled at Bec’s protectiveness. She does care. She nodded at the instructions and followed as directed, staying close to the security officer who was instructed to protect her. She’d make his job as easy as possible. She passed him a hypo. “Inoculant. Five doses. We’ll be administering it to anyone we find, whether we need to stun them first or not.” He took it and nodded.

When they reached the door, Bec gave each of her team a nod before opening the doors. She knew it would call attraction to them so she made sure everyone was off to the side before stepping in and holding her rifle ready to shoot anyone inside. Moving two steps forward, she allowed her two security officers to step just inside the door, leaving Jane to stand within the door frame or just outside of it. "Stand down," she said to the officers and the Orion.

The various officers immediately looked at Shalla who turned her head when she heard Bec's call. She held Kevin closely to her and started cuddling him, immediately overwhelming Kevin's senses. She turned to her hoard and said, "Sweeties, please handle these people for me. They do not seem to understand the importance of our work."

Kevin was pressed in and unsure of his surroundings or anything else. But something... someone... out of the corner of his eye... some sort of whispering in his ear... "Hold the line..." what line? Hold? A momentary reprieve and he struggled against the Orion, but it was short-lived. He saw what was happening and tried fighting the closing fog of pheromone that was overwhelming his mind. 'No!' he screamed inside of his own head. 'Not my... my SHIP!'

Lieutenant Junior Grade Steven Harvey, a security officer under Shalla's control replied, "You heard Shalla! Take the Commander and Doctor down." He immediately fired a phaser at Bec while another fired towards the entrance. Neither hit but they missed uncomfortably close.

Kevin closed his eyes, squeezed them shut and used all of his will and whatever part of his brain that didn't think with his dick which was dwindling rapidly, and pushed the Orion into her group of controlled crewmen. "The. Hard. Way." He spit out one word at a time and grabbed onto her body tightly, trying his best to immobilize her, or hold onto her... he wasn't sure. Either way, he hoped that he'd bought some time before his own will slipped away completely...

Thoroughly pissed off now, Bec said a string of unbecoming words and opened fire on the crew firing on her and Jane. "Open fire," she hissed at the other two. "Jane, stay out of here for now," she added, moving to take cover as she aimed carefully at the closest officer. She pressed the trigger and hit the man squarely in the chest with a blast of heavy stun. The officer went down like a sack of bricks. As she ducked back behind her cover, a shot fired at her went just over her head, sheering off some of her hair.

After ducking behind cover, the officer that was not in charge of protecting Jane also took a shot. This one hit the intended target in the abdomen, sending him flying back into a few of their comrades and knocking him out. Though the comrades were merely knocked down, it still gave the security team an advantage. Unfortunately, before he could go back behind his cover, the officer was hit in the left shoulder with a shot from the officers under Shalla's command.

The last security officer stood directly in front of Jane and fired at a third target. His shot almost went wide, but it hit the man in the upper chest, toward his left shoulder and sent him toppling back, also stunned. Then he moved to push Jane out of the doorway and back into the corridor. He turned just in time for a shot to graze his back, then hit the wall. Swearing under his breath, he motioned for Jane to move. "Go, get out of here. I'll get you when the firefight is over!"

Shalla, during the firefight, hissed urgently in Kevin's ear. "Get those shields down now, sweetie. You'll be richly rewarded."

"N-n-nooooo..." Kevin moaned softly, feeling his strength eroding. "Sh-sh-shields..."

“Hey, wait!” Jane called, but she was shoved clear. “Ugh!” She tried to get back into engineering, but the door locked behind her. “Bec!” She looked around for something to do...anything that would help.

In an adjacent room was Engineering Support Lab One. The machining room. The door opened without incident, but two aggressive looking engineers were inside. Both rushed her, but one was felled by a shot from Jane’s phaser, set to stun. The other she dodged and got with an injection of antidote. He stopped moving and looked to her, confused as he came to his senses.

“It’s alright,” she told him, firmly and directly. “You’re coming down off something nasty. Give it time and your head will clear. In the meantime, I need your help.”

Seeing the Orion woman near Kevin, Bec switched her target. She used a console to balance her rifle and aimed for center mass on the green-skinned woman. Then fired a shot and watched as it arced perfectly toward the woman.

"Defend me," Shalla ordered Kevin, just before Bec's shot knocked the Orion to the ground.

Bec rushed forward, securing Shalla before turning her phaser on Kevin. "Do I need to stun you as well?" She asked, her tone dark and her expression even darker. "Or are you going to stand down on your own?"

Kevin closed his eyes as the deck swam before his vision. He had been moving toward the shot but something stopped him before it hit him fully. Instead of answering, he slid down to his knees. "N-n-noooo shields..."

Once the others were taken care of, the security officer who had received the inoculation-filled hypo from Jane moved forward and pressed the hypo against Kevin's neck and injected him. "Should take a few seconds, but your head should clear now," he said before moving off to inoculate the rest of the officers they'd taken down.

Bec looked at Kevin. "No shields as in we don't have any shields right now or as in you're saying no to taking out the shields and fighting against her control?"

Swallowing, Kevin looked up. Had he taken them down? Had he obeyed? He didn't remember... "I... I don't know..." Squeezing his eyes shut, he struggled to piece his thoughts into something that made sense. "I... think they're up..." There was pain there behind his eyes and he shrugged. "I don't know how strong I was..." He dropped his head.

In fact, Kevin had only been partially successful. Some shields had gone down but others were still up.

"Alright, sit tight and take your time," she said, giving him a quick pat on the shoulder before standing up and assessing the situation. "You," she said to one of the men that had come in to take Kevin down, who happened to be wearing an engineering uniform, "make sure our shields are up and fully functional." She then turned to her own men. "Go get Jane," she said to the one that had been tasked with Jane's protection.

The man nodded and headed back out into the corridor. It took him a few minutes, but he finally found her in the auxiliary support lab. "Hey Doc, good to see you in one piece, sorry for shoving you out the door like that. Wasn't pretty in there," he said, jabbing a thumb over his shoulder to indicate main engineering. "But the Boss says we need ya in there."

Jane smiled at the security officer as she came around the work bench with a pair of cylinders the size of a tall beer can, one in each hand. She gave one to the man and took the other into engineering. She gave it to Bec with a smile. "Aerosol grenades filled with inoculant. It'll fill the air like a smoke bomb, though I'm not sure how visible the gas will be. Anyone who breathes the gas in will be able to shake the Orions from their heads, to at least some degree. I think. I'm pretty sure." She gave Bec a sideways smile. "The Engineering Support Lab is machining more as we speak."

"Nice! ... Wait... when did you start thinking like me?" Bec said, giving Jane a half grin. She tucked the grenade into a pouch on her belt and gave Jane a small pat on the arm. "Good job," she added before moving off to make sure that the shields were brought back online and that the structural integrity of the ship was good.

"Thanks," Jane replied before going to check on the crew to make sure there were no injuries. They were about ready to retake the bridge and finish dealing with the Orions.
