Mission: Mission 2 - Love ORION Mistaken
Location: Brig

Dr. Jane Sinclair, chief medical officer, physician, veterinarian, musician, and singer, sat on the floor of the brig cell. Her knees were pulled up to her chest. She had been crying. Her eyes were puffy, and a small amount of makeup had run down her cheeks. She wanted out. She had no idea why she was being held, or what was happening with Vivyra. No one would speak with her. So she sat, alone and afraid, hoping for human contact.

Neza slipped into the brig and gave a small nod to the guard that was there. She felt like visiting Jane, as she'd only heard rumors of what happened. Going over to the cell she was in, Neza sat down on the floor so she was at the same level. "Hey sis."

"Neez!" Jane exclaimed. She forced herself to a standing position and moved quickly to the forcefield. "I'm so glad to see you, little sister! How are things on the ship? How's Vivyra? Those jerks didn't hurt her, did they?" She was manic as she asked her questions. Unkempt hair partially blocked her face. She was a mess.

Standing back up, Neza gave Jane a small smile. "Ship is..crazy? Not sure how to put it. Vivyra is okay as far as I know. I had to explain to Cindy why I let her go with you but I'll handle all of that. Wha..what happened? I only heard rumors then found you were here."

Jane's manic smile was replaced by an angry look. "Our ship is crewed by terrible people, Neza. I woke up to find that Vivyra had slipped out. I went to see if she was in her room and found five people -- five! -- waiting for her. They were all lustful and crazy. They would have attacked her. But I stopped them, see. But then someone called security and they dragged me here. And now God knows what's happening out there. My love is all alone on a ship filled with predators, Neza. But I can trust you. You've never done wrong by me. You even broke orders to let me see her. You have to help me. Please." She started to touch the forcefield, gently, to figure out exactly where it was.

"Jane, calm down! See, that first part I hadn't heard. I just knew something had happened and you ended up down here. What did you do to stop them? I'll check on Vivyra after I leave here, okay? But I need to know what is going on in your head."

"My head is fine!" Jane yelled. But then she smiled. "I stopped them the only way I could. The way I had to. I attacked them, I did. Kicked one guy in the junk, and tried to slash at another. Messed up my hand, too, but it looks like T'Kal healed me, bless her little heart. Aw, you should've seen it, sis. I fought for true love against the lustful impulses of a crazed crew. They overpowered me before security came and took me away, but next time I'll have you fighting beside me, right? Right?" She looked at Neza with sad, pleading eyes. Eyes that begged for acknowledgement of her pain and help in the future.

"No, you're head isn't where it should be, mentally. I didn't mean a head injury. Since when do you hurt someone?!" Neza paced a bit. "You aren't yourself, most of this crew isn't themselves since Vivyra arrived. I understand you love her and I'm not questioning that. But there is something else going on here." She sighed. "You should have called security, or me, or...something! Sis, what has gotten into you, and don't say just love."

“There wasn’t time!” Jane answered. “You weren’t there! I had to act quickly! The ship hasn’t taken Vivyra’s security seriously enough. You’ve been a great help. You’ve kept her safe and happy. But the others...they’ll hurt her, Neza.” She tapped the forcefield repeatedly. “Can you let me out? Please?”

Neza rubbed her forehead, "Jane, for something like this, there is always time! You got yourself locked up because of what you did to a fellow crew member! I can't do anything to get you out until this thing gets sorted." She paced a bit outside the cell, "I will keep her safe, but you will have to handle the consequences for what you did."

She looked to the guard and then back over at Jane. "I'd get you out if I could, sis, you know this..."

Jane took a deep breath. “I know. It’s not your fault. But anything you can do helps. Keep her safe! Please! And if you can, send her to visit me? That way I can see her for myself too.”

She hadn't wanted to say anything, but she had to. "I'm off duty the rest of the day, Jane. I can't do anything, and I'll probably get reprimanded for coming down here. The whole crew is acting...strange. Hell, I'm more on edge than normal and I don't know why. I can't do a damned thing right now because I'm off duty. I'll...check on Vivyra unless Cindy has someone already checking on her today...but that's all I can do."

"Wait, off duty? For the rest of the day?" Jane's brow was furrowed. That didn't sound right. "Isn't it before 0900? And why would Cindy put someone else on Vivyra duty? What's happening out there, sis?"

"I don't know, but I want to find out. I don't know what I can do though without bringing attention to myself. I'm going to guess she leaves Vivyra locked in her quarters. And yes...I had a meeting with her this morning about my report on what happened yesterday." Neza sighed sadly, "None of this seems right, no one is acting like themselves..."

"Locked...in her quarters...?" Jane's eyes began to water. Her expression shifted first to despair, then to one of dogged determination. "Listen, Neza, I'd like it if you can find some way to check in on her. Make sure she's okay. But don't get caught. I'll do my part from in here. Besides, someone owes me a visit." She being tapping rapidly on the forcefield. "Guard! I demand to see the Captain! I know my rights! It's under her authority that I'm in here and I demand to see her!" She banged more on the forcefield, for added emphasis. "You should go," she whispered to Neza. "Thank you for having my back, sis. I owe you."

Neza shook her head, "Jane, don't overdo it. We don't want things to get worse for everyone, please? I'll...take lunch to Vivyra. I don't know if she put it on record that I'm off duty today as it wasn't an order, just saying I needed to take the shift off."

"I won't overdo it," she replied. "I know what I'm doing. Captain thinks she's going to throw me aside while something threatens the ship and people threaten my girl, and then throws my sister to the side, well she'll have to confront me for it! Maybe I can convince her that there's a real problem here and keeping my locked up does nothing." She tapped the forcefield again.

A guard stood up. "Step away from the forcefield!" he ordered.

"Go!" Jane whispered. "Don't get in any more trouble with me. I've got this."
