Mission 2 - Love ORION Mistaken
Location: Various
After they left, Jane in the mess hall, Gente looked over to Cat. "I want to apologize, and ask, if I may change first. I look silly with this unicorn shirt on." He said hoping Cat would be okay with it.
“Of course,” Cat smiled. “Though pink does look good on you I can tell you are uncomfortable in it. Let’s head to your place and we can go from there.”
"Thank you." Gente simply said, as they walked up to his quarters, he opened the door, and said with a big grin. "Make yourself comfortable, I'll just be a moment." He said, as she walked over to the closet to find another shirt. Before heading to the bathroom, to change. His quarters, were not very big. Despite being a ten year veteran with Starfleet.
Cat sat on a chair and waited for him. She thought back to him walking into the cafeteria and her first sight of him. She honestly hadn’t noticed the shirt because those eyes had held on to hers. He might change his shirt but Gente was bound to be teased for a while.
Gente grabbed a polo style shirt, it was dark blue, and threw it on. He walked out of the bathroom. With a smile on his face, he said. "Sorry about that, now shall we go to the Arboretum?"
“Yes,” Cat replied. “You look much more comfortable now, though the pink was not a bad color for you. Stereotyping colors is dumb.”
"I have a few pink or salmon color, depending what manly man your asking." Gente said with a smile on his face. He started to walk out of his room. "Sorry for that detour. I will have to make sure to repay Janie's kindness ten fold." He said, trying to be humorous. They started to make their way to the turbolift.
“It wasn’t all bad,” Cat returned. “If you had gone home instead of your little bet, we wouldn’t be here right now.”
"Well there is that." Gente said, as they continued to walk towards the arboretum. He was looking forward to getting a chance to know Cat better. He really knew nothing about her, and she was so pretty. He felt very lucky they were spending time together. "I forgot to ask, what you do the Legacy."
“I’m the navigator chief,” she replied. “Some would say it sounds rather boring but I like my job. Most days it is easy but then something happens and I have to make some adjustments. On occasion I get to fill in at helm.”
"So your the one that plots the course, my poor engines must drive the ship through." Gente said with a big grin on his face. "Never realized how interesting the navigation could be. After meeting you, I am willing to see." He said, hoping she picked up on his slight hint. He was not really good at flirting.
Cat smiled. “Navigators are a passionate people.” She flirted back. “We are great risk takers and when we see someone we like we take the risk.”
"Explains a lot. Agreeing to go on a date with a guy wearing a unicorn shirt!" He said playfully then continuing on. "From this point forward, no unicorns allowed!" He suggested to her, as they made their way to the Arboretum.
“I’m just glad we are here together,” Cat said. “I was worried at one point I had misunderstood and you weren’t interested in me.”
Gente was a little taken, with what she said. It sounded nice. After so many girls had been cold to him, it was nice to hear of a lady being interested in him. "Ready to go in?" Gente asked, he had yet to visit the Arboretum. Most of the time, he spent in Engineering or in the gym.
“Let’s,” she nodded. Cat didn’t care what they did as long as they were together.
Gente started to walk around the arboretum. "It's my first time, here. Have you been here before?" Gente asked as he started to look around the room. Impressed with what he saw!
“No I haven’t,” Cat replied. “But it is impressive, isn’t it?”
Gente started to stare at the landscaping, "It's really nice, but it does not compare your beauty." He said, taking a chance and showing her some interest. He felt a little off on the delivery of that pick up line.
Cat blushed at the compliment. “I doubt I compare with this but I’m glad you think so.” She paused. “I think you are handsome and those eyes of yours are mesmerizing.”
"I'm not sure what to say." Gente said, not really having a snappy response to mesmerizing eyes. He did not want to offend her, or scare her off. He hoped his answer was adequate for her.
Cat smiled. “I’m one of those people who is honest and says what she thinks.”
"I appreciate your honesty, your night like any woman I have met before. I like that about you. May I ask you a question?" Gente asked her, expecting her to say yes.
“Yes,” she nodded. Cat wondered what Gente wanted to ask her.
"What do you like to do for fun?" He softly asked her. He was eager to learn more about Cat. He hoped they had more of a connection, that physical looks to one another.
“You will find me boring,” Cat said a little nervous. “I like to build model planes and ships. I have never really spent much time outdoors. My father was obsessed with work. I always wanted to do things other families did like go camping, maybe play baseball or something.”
"No one is that boring, I wonder if you are being to hard on yourself." Gente said to her, thinking he needed to show her having hobbies, out side of her quarters was a good thing. It also explains, why he never saw her.
“What do you like to do when you aren’t revving up the engines,” Cat asked him.!
Gente really did not have to think of his response, he started to say. "Working out in the gym, go swimming. Taking stroll on the ship, things of that nature. And as of today, visiting the arboretum. I do not mind staying home, watching 21st century movies, and music either." He hoped one or more of things interested her.
“I love old movies,” Cat smiled. “And swimming. I have been meaning to start an exercise program as well!”
"I could always a lap partner." He said, looking to see how she would respond to his idea. "Maybe sometime soon, we can watch a classic movie together." Gente said, with a big grin on his face.
“I would like that,” she replied genuinely. “I will bring some snacks.”
"Me too, I would like that." Gente said, as they followed the path in the arboretum. He was admiring the view of the room, who made this room, did a phenomenal job. He thought to himself.
“How about tomorrow night,”’Cat suggested. “If you don’t have any plans that is.”
"Sounds perfect, what time would you like to come over?" Gente asked her. His mind was already planning for tomorrow night, but he still needed to past tonight. So far, the day had started off shaky with that damn unicorn shirt. At least, they got to take a stroll in the arboretum.
“Is eighteen hundred good?” She asked. It would give her time to go home and change first. She was really excited about tomorrow and enjoying tonight as well.
"That works," he said thinking to himself. my engineers might appreciate the old man out of engineering. Gente was trying to make light of the fact, he works long days. Typically 0800 hours to 2000 hours. But he should cut back, the engines were purring real nicely. He could relax a little, and get to know Cat a little more.
“I’m not rushing you am I?” Cat asked him. “I just really want to spend more time getting to know you.”
"We make time for the things that matter in life, this matters." He said, as he walked over to a bench in the arboretum. He started to sit down, as he noticed the small pond, near them.
“You have a taste for the beauty in things,” Cat murmured. “Not a lot of people do.” She walked forward and looked into the pond. “Do you think there is anything alive in there?”
"Not sure, my first time coming here. It's a beautiful pond." Gente said, as he continued to sit on the bench. He wondered if she was going to walk over, or keeping her guard up? If he was in her shoes, he would keep his guard up too, to a guy wearing a unicorn shirt earlier in the day.
Cat walked back over and sat down beside him, looking over at him. “Thank you for bringing me here, this is perfect.”
"My pleasure, and yes this is perfect." Gente said, as reached over to grab her hand, to see how she would react, he looked over at her, with his sincere eyes.
Cat smiled at him, her eyes her warm and inviting. She waited a moment then did what her father taught her was unthinkabke for a woman. She slid closer and kissed him.
Gente leaned in for a kiss, as the scene fades with the two of them kissing on the bench in the arboretum.
