Mission 2 - Love ORION Mistaken
Location: Officer's Mess
Jane stood with her back against the corridor bulkhead near the door to the officer’s mess. She had done something bad. She had falsified a summons for Neza to report to her science lab. She watched the door, waiting for her little sister to appear.
Sure enough, the tall blonde left the mess hall and walked directly towards the turbolift, exactly as Jane expected she would. With a grin, she snuck into the mess and found the green skinned object of her desires sitting with her back to the door. She crept up behind Vivyra and ran her fingers through her hair, moving them forward across her face to cover her eyes. “Guess who, beautiful?” she whispered into her lover’s ear.
"Ooooh!" Vivyra cooed. "A guessing game!" In a teasing voice, she asked, "Captain Cindy?"
Jane couldn’t help but giggle. “I don’t know. Does Captain Cindy kiss you like this?” She began kissing and gently nibbling Vivyra’s ear. “And if the and if the answer is yes, tell me now you achieved that,” she joked.
Vivyra giggled and then moaned softly when Jane started nibbling on Vivyra's ear. "I would not mind if Captain Cindy kissed me like you do," Vivyra admitted. "I do not think she appreciates women, like we do." Vivyra pushed aside Jane's hands from her eyes and peered into Jane's eyes. "Did you have a good workday?"
“I think you’re right about Cindy,” Jane agreed, “which is a damn shame. As for my work day, it’s been fantastic. I’ve been happier than I’ve been in a while. Though I did notice something. A lot of the men that have come into sickbay have had their minds on you. They haven’t done anything to hurt you or make you feel uncomfortable, have they?”
"Doesn't Cindy like to kiss? I do not understand why she would not want to kiss either of us." Vivyra looked wounded as she made that last statement. "As to the men? Hurt me? Make me feel uncomfortable? How would they do that?" the Orion asked rather confused.
“Has anyone,” Jane began to ask, choosing her words carefully, “asked you to do anything with them, or to them? In our culture, it’s inappropriate to make sexual advances in a lot of different circumstances.” She smiled sheepishly. “I suppose I’m being overly protective of you. I don’t want to see you hurt, or doing anything you wouldn’t want to.”
Vivyra thought for a moment. She thought she might have slept with a man on the ship but the memory passed as if it was nothing more than a dream. Perhaps it was. After all, she would have remembered that, wouldn't she have? "I have not been intimate with anyone but you on this ship so far. I mean, sure, men have definitely expressed interest but I have not been able to get close to any, yet."
“Wait,” Jane asked. “What do you mean you haven’t been able to get close to any? Is this something you want?” On the one hand, Jane knew so little about Vivyra’s wants or needs, and knew she hadn’t been monogamous herself. But on the other hand, she felt like she’d been stabbed. She tried to shake the feelings away, because she was desperate to make sure Vivyra got what she wanted. Wait, wot? A moment of doubt over her motivations flitted through her mind but disappeared as quickly. Vivyra’s needs were priority. Even if those needs stung like a knife.
"Something that I want? Maybe," Vivyra answered honestly. "I suppose that it would depend on the person. There are so many interesting people here." She then smiled into Jane's eyes warmly. "But I doubt that I would want anyone more here than you." She blinked her eyes flirtatiously at Jane.
“There are many interesting people at that,” Jane agreed, feeling warmth spread through her body from her smile and beautiful flirtatious eyes. “Men and women alike, though I’m only interested in the women personally. Some more than others. You more than any.” She kissed Vivyra on the lips, oblivious to the others who were staring.
In the mess, there were several hoots of approval as the two kissed. However, there also was a noticeable groan or two. Someone shouted, "It isn't fair!"
Vivyra threw herself into the kiss, and made her desire known to Jane. "I cannot wait for you to meet my friends. They're going to eat you up!"
“Oh?” Jane asked. “Well I want to hear all about them. But first, I’m going to eat you up. I’m wondering if we can sneak away, jump in the shower for some fun before Neza gets back. What do you think?”
"That sounds like a lot of fun! But won't Neza be angry?" Vivyra asked concerned. "Can we even be that fast?"
Neza grumbled at the false call and had made her way back to the officer's mess. She had a feeling she knew what was going on, but what was she supposed to do? The call was one where she wouldn't have been able to bring Vivyra along as it was.
When she saw Jane and Vivyra, she sighed and walked over, "You know, I have nothing against all of this...but keeping her with me wasn't exactly my choice."
Vivyra blushed a darker shade of green when Neza appeared and then her eyes darkened. "What do you mean? You were trying to keep us apart?!"
A rational part of Jane’s brain tried to remind her that no, she was emotionally compromised, and it was important for someone other than her to be with Vivyra during the day when the good doctor was on duty. But that part of her brain was silent, suppressed by some force (love, Jane assumed).
Jane started angrily at Neza as she held Vivyra close, hands on her lover’s bare arms, rubbing up to her shoulders.
“I think maybe they are, my love,” she said to Vivyra but still looking at Neza. “Everyone thinks that I’m being irrational because of you. That you’ve compromised me. But it’s not true. It’s just that I love you and I won’t let them tear us apart.” She pulled Vivyra to her feet and looked her in the eye. “Let’s go to my quarters. Instead of a quickie, I get to take my time on you now.” She grinned wickedly. “Why don’t you go there first, and start the shower?”
Vivyra gave Jane an adoring smile and then winked seductively at Jane as she started heading out of the mess, her hips swaying alluringly as she walked.
Jane looked back to Neza. “I won’t let you or anyone take her from me.”
"This wasn't my idea, Jane! Believe me, I would rather you two be together." Neza moved Jane and herself away from everyone else who would be listening. "It's Cindy, not me. I have no idea how to keep her occupied all day. I'm a scientist, but I also know love when I see it. This has nothing to do with who she is, its how you both feel about each other. I wish I had something like that, I truly do. I...I feel like I did...twice but..." She shook her head, "Go, spend time with her, please? I won't tell Cindy if you don't."
Jane weighed Neza’s words carefully, squinting at the taller woman. Was it all Cindy’s fault? It might be. Cindy was making Jane work all day finding information about Vivyra. The results would be in in the morning, but she knew they’d show nothing strange going on.
Neza had nothing to do with this. She was following orders. Cindy was the problem.
Jane smiled and gave her little sister a big hug. “Thank you, Neza. We’ve always been there for each other. Yes, let’s not tell Cindy. I’m going to go have some fun with the love of my life, okay?”
Nodding, Neza returned the hug. "You're lucky to have found her, you know."
Vivyra had finished leaving the mess. With a subtle point, she indicated to Jane that Vivyra could be found in her quarters when she was done. Men started to rise and head out after the Orion.
Jane noticed the crowd of lecherous men follow her. The nerve! First Cindy and maybe Bec try to keep her from Vivyra, and now, as she noticed the day before and during her shift, men were practically throwing themselves at her.
She did have one way of stopping it though.
With two fingers in her mouth, Jane whistled as loud as she possibly could. She was sure Neza, who remained next to her, found it deafening. But she didn’t care. “Atten-HUT!” she called out, making her voice project as far as it could.
The room snapped to attention out of habit. The room waited for orders. A pin could be heard dropping, if one had so dropped.
“Just what the hell do you all think you’re doing?” Jane asked the room. “It’s a good thing your CMO is also a vet, because you’re acting like animals!” She walked up to one man, taller than her by almost a foot. She recognized him as Petty Officer Richard Jameson. “You. Just what were you planning on doing when you started to follow Vivyra out the door? And before you ask, you have permission to speak freely.”
The round faced brunette haired, barrel chested man with dark brown eyes looked down on the CMO, visibly shaken. Should he answer honestly or hedge the truth? His mouth started to work but no words formed immediately. He cleared his throat and said, "Nothing, ma'am. I was just looking at her. She's quite attractive."
“You started following her out of here,” Jane replied. “You need your feet to look at her, Petty Officer? Now answer the question. What. Was. Your. Plan?” If looks good kill, Jane was committing murder.
Neza wasn't sure what to do to start, but when the Petty Officer said what he did, she walked over from where her ears were still ringing slightly. "Jane, go. I know you hold higher position than me but..." She eyed the officer and crossed her arms angrily, "He can put up with me..."
“In a moment, Lieutenant junior grade Glenn,” Jane said. “Mister Jameson here was about to answer my question.”
The petty officer started to shake. "I was just going to go back to my quarters! The door is that way! Can't help but see what's in front of me!"
Jane looked away, nodding at the man’s unconvincing explanation. She was sure no one saw coming the punch to his solar plexus that knocked the wind out of him. Jameson clutched his stomach and groaned in pain.
“Let’s make something clear,” Jane said, projecting so the entire room could hear. “Vivyra is not some plaything for you to gawk at. She’s a sentient being and should be treated with respect. And more to the point, because of the way she was conditioned, it is my professional opinion that she is incapable of giving informed consent to a man. Anyone caught trying to seduce her will answer to the command staff and spend time in the brig for attempted sexual assault. Are we clear?”
Jameson, now completely terrified of the blue pixie, nodded mutely.
“Good.” Jane gently touched Jameson’s chin and lifted it so he was facing her. “Now go to sickbay, get a painkiller, and for God’s sake, if you’re that riled up about a new girl on board, go back to your quarters and deal with it yourself.” She pushed his chin away and looked back up to the others. “As you were!” She spun to face the door and headed to the corridor.
There was silence from the entire mess as Jane left. The moment she exited, there was a hushed excitement and gossip started to spring about.
Knowing not to get mixed up in this, Neza was still stunned at what Jane had done. But, she didn't question it. Glancing to Jameson, she simply shrugged, then looked around the room. "You heard her!" She eyed people for a moment before heading out. She'd deal with the wrath of Cindy later. Why did she ever agree to keep Jane and Vivyra apart?
