799 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: Mission 2 - Love ORION Mistaken
Location: Captain's Quarters

Once Bec left, Cindy was left with feelings of uncertainty and many questions, certainly many more than answers. But, she had promised Bec that someone else would take over the watch on Vivyra and there were no other suggestions other than Neza. As such, she summoned the woman to her quarters. =^= Lieutenant Glenn, please come to my quarters. =^=

Hearing the call come in while reading over a few things in her quarters, Neza hit the com panel =^= On my way, Captain. =^=

Once Neza had arrived and Cindy allowed her in, Cindy told Neza, "Have a seat. I have something that I need to discuss with you."

Coming in and sitting down, Neza wasn't quite sure what was going on. Had she done something wrong? "Something to discuss with me?"

"Yes." Cindy's fabled smile faded slightly, her eyes shifting to hazel - a brown interior ring, surrounded by green. "I need your honest thoughts and opinions. Tell me what you think about Vivyra."

"Vivyra? I think she's incredibly nice and honestly don't have anything against her." The eye color change from Cindy put her guard up a little. "Why do you ask?"

Cindy mused at Neza's response. Was she similarly affected as Bec thought that Jane was or was Neza like herself and saw someone who was clinging to anyone because of loneliness. "Because I want you to take over for Jane on watching Vivyra."

Neza's eye went wide. "Take over watching Vivyra? I'm not sure I understand. As far as I can tell, Jane is doing an amazing job."

"I've heard some concerns," Cindy replied uncomfortably. "I would rather not address them." Cindy sat down and crossed her legs. "I also need you to keep your scientific mind on with Vivyra. For someone who has just escaped, she seems to anxious to go home. Why request amnesty if she only wants to go back?"

Not saying a word about the concerns, because she had a guess what they were, Neza simply nodded. “I take a scientific mind to everything. I can’t promise I will get anything. Especially if she won’t talk.” She sighed. “Do you want me to keep her away from Jane?”

Cindy gave a heavy sigh. "At least during duty hours. I need to know if she is a threat or something else is going on." Cindy gave Neza an uneasy smile. "I really hope that there is nothing here. I like Vivyra."

"I do too. I've not run into any issues with her," Neza shrugged, "But unless she needs to visit sickbay, I'll keep Vivyra away from there during duty hours, and away from Jane. Do you want me to assign another of my science team to the bridge for a while?"

"I think that would be wisest. Now that we have a general idea of where we are going, we should be alright without you on immediate watch."

"Understood. I know who I can assign for the time being to cover my bridge shift. What do I tell her if she asks to go see Jane?"

Cindy shifted uncomfortably. "Tell her that I assigned you to a very special duty involving Vivyra and that it cannot be disturbed."

Neza shook her head, "I mean if Vivyra asks to see Jane."

"Ah, well, just remind Vivyra that the ship is a very busy place and as our Chief Medical Officer, Jane has to be ready for any possible emergency. Besides, you can always let Vivyra know that Jane is preparing to help any others like herself and she needs to make the ship ready for her schoolmates." Cindy shifted uncomfortably and her eyes gave away the obvious lie.

"Oh...right. Tell her the plan." Neza frowned. "I hate lying like that, but I understand why it is necessary. I just...I don't know, they get along so well."

"So it seems but they have gotten very cozy with one another in a short period and the behavior does not fit normal Orion stereotypes." Cindy shrugged apologetically. "I hope it is nothing."

"No real way to know," Neza said with a shrug. "But, I'll do what you ask. Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on Vivyra."

"And keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. Use your scientific mind, whenever and wherever necessary. You have my full permission to perform tests, if required. Just not near Jane. OK?" Cindy asked with a worried smile.

Letting out a breath, Neza nodded. "Okay, I can handle that. I think the biggest challenge will be keeping her away from Jane. But, I'll sort it out."

"Good," Cindy replied, satisfied. "Let me know if you need anything. If not, then, have a good evening, Neza."

"Good night, Cindy. Tomorrow looks to be a fun day."
