Physical Description		A mop of frizzy curls is Noakes' defining characteristic, along with an easy smile. A lower gravity life has made him a bit lanky. His eyes are warm, laughing and medium brown. Its easy to get the impression that his eyes are truth-telling eyes: Noakes has little skill in bluffing, guile and lying. His face is almost equally dominated by a long, broad nose that seems to almost guarantee an obstacle if the kid wants to kiss. He is not a tall man, standing an inch under the average and overall he is not physically imposing. Jasper's thin build has only a small rise in his chest muscles, a lengthy neck, arms that are ropy with lean muscle, and sensitively long fingers. Jasper is clearly of a mixed race, his skin a warm, ruddy brown color (he is primarily Maori and Caucasian, with Black/African heritage throughout). Much of the time he is clean shaven which doesn’t do much to offset the impression that Noakes has an androgynous baby face. But he experiments with some fuzz on his chin and upper lip (which he cannot grow into anything but a patchy beard). He also experiments with trying to tie back that halo of brown frizz but doing so accentuates how thin his face is. He tends to do it only in the most utilitarian of times. Noakes has an innocuous presence, happy to fade into the background to let others shine. His accent is heavily spritzed with Jovian idiosyncrasies; to a Terran's ear the accent is still something akin to New Zealander. Noakes’ tells are his tendency to rub his hand up the curly ringlets at the back of his neck when he’s nervous, or else he folds his arms over his chest.

Significant Other(s)/Romance		None, and he's still a virgin (which he feels awkward about). Noakes hasn't had much luck in love. The guys he's been interested in didn't seem interested back, or else they were short term affairs that ended with Noakes or they leaving for a new opportunity. Jasper tends to wait too long to share his feelings and has a difficult habit of being attracted to men who tend to be straight. Deep down he is a little afraid of commitment: ISFPs don't usually like being tied down in the long term.

General Overview		Noakes is best described as shy, a somewhat typical ISFP personality type. He is modest by nature, loyal to friends and prefers not to carry baggage such as judgment around. In that he is not a typical pilot but put him behind the controls of a car, a shuttle, a starship and there is a peculiar light in his warm eyes. It says: go faster. Jasper is an explorer and under that shy skin is a passionate heart. If your standard ISFP is an artist or composer, his instrument is behind the wheel (or console). On Europa he was a caged creature, however beautiful the surrounding space was. He always felt that urge to see more.
Strengths, Weaknesses, and Quirks		Strengths Borderline Precognition: Noakes scored within the 98th percentile in his ability to anticipate and counteract unexpected variables in piloting situations. He stays remarkably calm in such stressful situations which is a confidence he doesn't show elsewhere. He has an excellent ability to move within a three-dimensional space. Charming: Noakes has a certain awkward, boyish charm to him. He brings a relaxed, warm air, a live and let live mentality that believes in not criticizing others. But he silently prefers people return the favor. Sensitive: Noakes prefers to help others shine. He prefers to minimize conflict and promote an atmosphere of goodwill. Curious: As long as it can be translated into an action and not float as a nebulous theory, Jasper is quite curious and exploratory. His curiosity is much of a humanistic lean than a scientific one. He cares very little for dry research. Weaknesses Fluctuating Self-Esteem: Criticism can be devastating to Noakes, and people who lead a conversation with pointed critiques are never going to be people he will feel close to. At the worst moments, Noakes tends to withdraw and brood over criticism. Unpredictable: Noakes does not do much of anything in a planned way. He can be hard to nail down. He's not a killer. He's an explorer. Quirks Ascetic: Noakes doesn't seek glory or status, and is is generally modest. He also prefers a few-frills lifestyle. He's not the type to collect things. He packs light because it is easier to travel that way. His quarters are minimalist and say very little about him. On some level he never fully unpacks, both mentally or physically. Home is Where His Cot Is: Home is where his head lays. Noakes does think of Europa has the center of his family life. But home is where he is. He is the same type of person who would live happily out of a hotel room, or could coast through life in an RV.
Ambitions		Jasper isn't an ambitious person. Command doesn't appeal to him. He joined Starfleet to see as much of the galaxy as he could, and to fly some of Starfleet's newest machines. Is it his lifelong career? Unlikely. Can he see himself doing it in ten years: yes. Rank is not something important to Jasper though he appreciates the recognition of what he does well. He enjoys the possibility of interacting with aliens just as long as diplomatic relations don't rely on his skills. He tends to err on the side of caution during diplomatic functions.
Hobbies, Interests, Likes, and Dislikes		Vintage Cars: Noakes' first exposure to cars was his first year at Starfleet Academy. He's fascinated. He also like the Smithsonian's air and space museum. He's fascinated with them enough that he'd consider trying to learn some of the mechanics behind their workings. He can't see himself owning one anytime soon (because he wants to keep moving), but maybe someday. To come home to. Coffee: If Jasper has a constant companion in his life, it is coffee. Coffee is ubiquitous on Europa. He starts every day with a cup or two. He likes it during dinner. Cinema: In his downtime, Jasper will bring along a private PADD and watch old comedies. He usually kicks back in bed with a mindless comedy or action classic he has seen a dozen times, and falls asleep. Shuttle Racing: Joey and Jasper still have a dream, not yet material, of entering a custom built shuttle in the annual Jovian Trans-Orbital Rally, the J-TOR (Jaytor). It is one of the most serious, grueling circuit runs for serious shuttle rally enthusiasts in the Sol Sector. Music: Jasper can ehhh.. sort of sing, but he can't play an instrument. He loves music, especially rock. He likes to play it in his helmet when in extravehicular excursions or when piloting a shuttle. Centerfolds: Jasper's guilty pleasure is his paper pinup calendar of hunky guys in his quarters. Personal History		Jasper would say his background is ordinary. He came from a loving, technical family though a large one where he was easily overlooked somewhere in the middle. His ancestry is a mix of Maori, New Zealander, Jamaican and Welsh. He has an older brother and two older sisters, and two younger sisters. With space at a premium, Jasper’s family also lives in a communal way with extended family: two grandmothers, one grandfather and an aunt and uncle with two children. Privacy and personal space were rare things. His home, Conamara Lift, is situated around an old space elevator-style skyhook tethered to a cargo and fuel waystation in orbit. With the advent of transporter technology, the station is more of a tourist attraction and interesting relic than practical method of transport. Conamara Hub still maintains a geosynchronous orbit over Conamara Lift as a second-tier cargo and personnel transport nexus around the Jovian system. The only people actually using the space elevator these days are tourists and those who hate thee idea of transporting. Jasper’s family is huge and they are quietly one of the founding families of the original Conamara Lift colony. Some of their names are carved into ancient ice forevermore, cryogenic memorials of the loss and sacrifice to establish the colony. Jasper takes quiet pride in his ancestors but wants nothing to do with any notion of celebrity. He exists on his own merits. Europa was and still is a hard place to live. It is essentially a floating, highly radioactive egg in space, bombarded by Jupiter’s lethal magnetic field and radiation. It is subject to some of the most powerful plasma discharges and ion storms from Io’s trail of volcanically charged particles. But on the inside is a marine exo-biologist’s dream: over fifty kilometers deep, water under intense pressure. In it: hidden pockets of native life.

He had no real uncertainty of what he wanted to do: Flight Control was his goal because it seemed the fastest way to see a lot of the galaxy without burdening technical details or bureaucracy. He achieved his provisional shuttlecraft license in late 2253. 2253-2254: Freshman Cadet, Starfleet Academy. Most of his first year was in San Francisco; after basic orientation Jasper went straight into command and control basic classes. He achieved his next level of shuttlecraft piloting license, and participated in a survival training course on Mars. 2254-2255: Sophomore Cadet, Starfleet Academy; Echo Squadron. An older cadet, Joey, took a liking to Jasper and continued to "test" Jasper for his skillset.
