General News - Status Update: February Edition

The following is a news item from Commander Cynthia Lynette Jackson a/k/a Captain Cindy.

Welcome to Legacy’s second 2019 Status Update! I will be sending these out on the first of the month (give or take a few days) to give an overview of everything that happened in the month before and of what our goals are for the upcoming month.

Crew

This was an interesting month, as we went through a great deal of transitions.

This month we gained two players:

Chief Medical Officer, Lieutenant Jane Sinclair
Assistant Chief Engineering Officer, Lieutenant Gente Lopez-Fonsi

We had one player create a new PC and make his other one and NPC in that Rear Admiral John Wheeler is now the NPC and Chief Communications Officer Steffan Haas as the PC.

We lost one player:

Chief Security/Tactical Officer - Lieutenant Zoe Cayce

On Extended Leave of Absence:

Lieutenant Naryi Avonavi

Website

I shockingly (sarcasm = hyperbole) did nothing with the site this month again. Our XO will be coordinating with me to start working on it and she will be making better. I think she did some but I know she has had other projects going on, too. I will be having XO create a Wiki for us while I just try to become competent at Nova. I know she has some other projects in the works, so please bear with us here.

Sim

We ramped our activity back towards our old levels, getting 11 posts in. Ideally, I'd like to see us back at 20 per month but going from 6 to 11 is a welcome sight. Thank you to everyone for getting back your energy. Let's push through this mission so we can get to something that may be more conducive to individual posts. Please remember that we're supposed to be aiming for a post a week. So, we can all do better here.

Mission Recap

Legacy took off to investigate the radio silence of the space stations K-4 and K-5 which had gone silent near the Klingon Neutral Zones. K-4 and K-5 were placed near the Borderlands and there was some suspicion that this was not the result of Klingons but Orions for reasons unknown. Nearly three days into their 4 day trip to the Klingon Neutral Zone, Legacy received an emergency signal from K-6 complaining that it was under attack from an unknown ship that disappeared after the attack. The station was in disarray and it feared the ship’s return. Two hours from K-6 at warp 8, the ship reappeared briefly on the viewscreen, a ball of plasma energy attacked the station and all communications were lost. Legacy is investigating.

K-6’s shields were fortified by Rodinium, the hardest substance known to science. Yet, it crumbled on Legacy’s briefing table. Legacy suspects that the unidentified ship is heading to K-7, which is closest to the Klingon border and houses quadrotritocale for Sherman’s Planet. At the briefing, Legacy crew tried to doctor a torpedo to find the ship and they intercepted a communication that a Vulcan theorized showed a picture of a Romulan, which nobody has ever seen in StarFleet. Legacy crew theorized that this ship, which can go invisible and fire a powerful weapon is a prototype.

The Legacy crew tracked its tetryon particle stream and fired in its general area. After several torpedoes were fired, Legacy noticed debris in its general area. The crew determined that there was insufficient mass to make up the ship and started firing at it again. In response, the Romulan ship materialized and fired a plasma energy blast at Legacy. It then went invisible again. The blast was faster than Legacy, which unsuccessfully tried to maneuver away from it. However, by reversing at full warp, Legacy was able to avoid the bulk of the blast.

The Romulan ship was relocated and found to be heading for the Klingon Neutral Zone. The Captain, after sending a message to StarFleet and the Klingon Empire, decided to enter the Klingon Neutral Zone in pursuant of the Romulan ship. The Romulan ship is heading towards the Klingon ship, with Legacy in pursuit. The Klingons do not acknowledge that there is a Romulan ship there.

Also, since Legacy has been in service, crew members are experiencing odd sets of deja vu. Talking about crew members who clearly have never been on Legacy, but feel like that they should be there. Is this ghosts caused by the unique nature of Legacy's creation?

Objectives

Investigate the cause of the destruction of K-6, determine the objectives of the Romulan ship, and how to handle the Romulan ship inside the Klingon Neutral Zone. Hopefully we will not all die.

Player of the Month

There is no doubt who the player of the month for January should be: Lieutenant Jane Sinclair. Our blue haired doctor has revitalized our sim, giving us the breath of fresh air that was needed when Sable went on ELOA. Sinclair has fully integrated herself into the past with backposts and participating fully in the current stream of Legacy and is building numerous relationships with crew in and out of character. We are thrilled to have her on our ship (and to end Kris' three month string of Player of the Month).

BFMS

Most of you have already done this but one still have not. (I'm looking at you, Steve!) If you are one of the people who has not, please register your character at the below site and assign them to USS Legacy, Task Force 64. Bravo Fleet and the Task Force would like as many people on there as possible, as would I.

Ideas

If anyone has any ideas for character development or even some subplots, share them with us. I know that my door, as well as my XO’s are always open. Any questions, comments, or issues, please don’t hesitate to contact the Command team. We are here for you!

That’s it for this month’s Status Update! Let's keep up the great work! I can hardly wait to sim more with all of you! I have big plans! Big evil, er, plans! Yes, big good plans! That's the ticket!
