General News - Status Update - September, 2020 Edition

The following is a news item from Captain Cynthia Lynette Jackson a/k/a Captain Cindy.

Normally, I send these out on the first of the month (give or take a few days) to give an overview of everything that happened in the month before and of what our goals are for the upcoming month.

Crew

In the past month we stayed stable at seven players. (Last month I incorrectly said eight because we had two PCs for one player, which I believe was me.)

Website

We're going to continue improving upon the site to make it attractive and informative for all. I will be having XO or 2XO create a Wiki for us while I just try to become competent at Nova. I know they have some other projects in the works, so please bear with us here. If you have any thoughts or want to assist, let us know!

Sim

We had 8 posts in August, which double upped July. It is good to see that we're moving in a positive direction again; however, we're used to double digit posts, so let's pick it up! If you have issues, or ideas, just let me know, so we can move forward in a positive direction.

Mission 2 Recap and Mission 3 recap

Legacy successfully tracked the Romulan ship into Klingon space. Once there, the Klingons were notified and joined in (only after the proof of a Romulan ship could be shown to them) on destroying the Romulan ship, but not before the Romulans took a plasma weapon pot shot at the Klingons. The Romulan vessel tried to self destruct and hold Legacy by tractor beam but Legacy broke hold and warped out just in time.

It is now some time later and Legacy has witnessed a unique scene. A woman claiming to be in distress and being shot at by two Orion vessels asked for amnesty. Legacy barely beamed the woman onto itself. She was an Orion and immediately tranquilized by the doctor, who treated her for smoke inhalation and burns. In the meantime, the two Orion ships chasing her turned on each other and destroyed each other.

When she woke a day later, the woman identified herself as Vivyra. Despite Orion women normally causing adverse reactions in females, Jane felt nothing of the sort from Vivyra. Vivyra told her, Cindy and Bec that she was a captive on a planet. She escaped from it, where her schoolmates still reside. She wants to find them but is not sure of their location. She seems as puzzled by the Orions destroying themselves as the Legacy crew.

Vivyra has formed a close and personal relationship with Chief Medical Officer Jane Sinclair. In the meantime, Legacy has elected to search the wreckage for any clues as to where Vivyra’s planet lies or why the Orion ships were firing at Vivyra. Legacy was able to find one coordinate and has now been able to extrapolate where Vivyra's planet might be. At the XO's request, Cindy is giving the Chief Science Officer responsibility for watching Vivyra as the XO believes that Jane's objectivity is compromised and that Jane requested assistance at some point.

At Bec's urging, Cindy made Neza Vivyra's chaperone, which is leading to some rather difficult times for crewmembers. In the meantime, crew members seem to be more and more attracted to Vivyra, leading Jane to more jealousy/possessiveness over the Orion.

Eventually, Vivyra was suspected of being an Orion spy and placed in the brig. When Legacy arrived at Vivyra's planet, several Orion females boarded Legacy from two Orion fighters and crew started feeling the effects. Jane created an antidote and eventually Legacy was saved. The Orion fighters were fired upon and encouraged to leave. Legacy left and beamed Vivyra and the other Orions away, even though they believed that Vivyra was innocent in all of this.

Admiral Wheeler then announced that there were time space distortions coming from Vulcan and ordered Legacy to immediately be dispatched over to Vulcan. Cindy protested but was overruled by Wheeler.

On the way to Vulcan, Legacy crewmembers started experiencing deja vu with crew members that they believed that they knew but they could not have possibly been associated with. The crew has discovered that the incidents occur with the time distortion waves and are currently discussing encoding the current crew so that Legacy knew which Legacy crew members were which and then working on a solution to the issues at Vulcan.

The ship is now at Vulcan and all the inactive PCs and NPCs have arrived onto the ship. Legacy must find a way to single out the correct reality and keep the ship intact.

Objectives

End the time space/dimension distortions at Vulcan so that time, space, and reality stay constant.

Player of the Month

For August, we will give the player of the month to our Chief Science Officer, who has written some fantastic posts with Admiral Wheeler and our XO. Congratulations, Rich, otherwise known as Lieutenant Arev, our moody "Vulcan."

Ideas

If anyone has any ideas for character development or even some subplots, share them with us. I know that my door, as well as my XO’s are always open. Any questions, comments, or issues, please don’t hesitate to contact the Command team. We are here for you!

That’s it for this month’s Status Update! Let's keep up the great work! I can hardly wait to sim more with all of you! I have big plans! Big evil, er, plans! Yes, big good plans! That's the ticket! So, let's get Mission 3 done, wrap up all kinds of R&R on 3.5 and I can take us to Mission 4! :)
